Le Batalha de Porto

Le Batalha de Porto, « ville invaincue », est l’une des salles les plus emblématiques du Portugal. 
Construite en 1908, le Batalha a grandi avec la jeune République, a résisté à 40 ans de dictature, a crié avec les manifestants portant des œillets le 25 avril 1974, et a été témoin de l’entrée du Portugal dans la CEE. Mais, au tournant du siècle, faute de spectateurs, le cinéma Batalha doit fermer.
La menace de sa destruction pèse un temps…
En 2022, quel bonheur d’assister à sa ré-ouverture ; elle aussi invaincue, la salle du Batalha est désormais prête à relever les nouveaux défis du XXIème.

The Batalha of Porto

The Batalha of Porto, « unconquered city », is one of the most emblematic cinema hall in Portugal.
Built in 1908, Batalha grew up with the young Republic, withstood 40 years of dictatorship, shouted with carnation-wearing demonstrators on April 25, 1974, and witnessed Portugal’s entry into the EEC. But, at the turn of the century, due to a lack of spectators, the Batalha cinema had to close.
The threat of its destruction weighs for a while…
In 2022, what a joy to witness its re-opening; also undefeated, the cinema Batalha is now ready to take on the new challenges of the 21st century.
