Alain Danielou, l’esprit libre
Voilà trente ans que vous nous avez quittés et pourtant, vous êtes toujours là et si présent que je me suis remis dans vos pas : Bénarès, Venise, Zagarolo… Et en reprenant le fil de mes souvenirs, je comprends que vous êtes resté toute votre vie, un esprit libre. Enfant maladif, vous trouvez votre liberté dans la danse et dans le chant. À 16 ans, vous vous déclarez homosexuel au grand courroux de votre mère qui vous jette dehors. En 1932, à 24 ans, avec votre ami Raymond Burnier qui en a 20, en coupé Ford tractant une roulotte, vous rejoignez Bénarès, le cœur du monde hindou. Et vous allez y rester presque 20 ans et pénétrer le monde foisonnant de l’hindouisme shivaïte.
Alain Danielou, a free spirit
It’s been thirty years since you left us, and yet you’re still here, and so present that I’ve retraced your steps: Benares, Venice, Zagarolo… And as I pick up the thread of my memories, I realize that you remained a free spirit all your life. A sickly child, you found your freedom in dancing and singing. At the age of 16, you declared yourself a homosexual, much to the wrath of your mother, who threw you out of the house. In 1932, at the age of 24, with your friend Raymond Burnier, who was 20, in a Ford coupé towing a trailer, you headed for Benares, the heart of the Hindu world. And you would stay for almost 20 years, penetrating the teeming world of Shiva Hinduism.
