Septembre 2017, la minorité Rohingya de Birmanie est victime d’un nettoyage ethnique.
En quelques mois, 750.000 Rohingyas passent la frontière birmano-bangladaise. On dénombre alors un million de réfugiés dans les camps de Kutupalong, au Sud du Bangladesh.
Kutupalong est aujourd’hui le camp de réfugiés le plus peuplé du monde.
En mars 2008, je pars recueillir les récits de femmes réfugiées. Beaucoup d’entre elles ont été victimes de violences sexuelles.
Le viol a été utilisé systématiquement comme une arme de guerre.
Plusieurs de ces femmes veulent en parler devant ma caméra.
Leurs témoignages résonnent comme autant de cris ; ces femmes ont besoin de nous.
Elles ont besoin d’être entendues.
Leur souffrance a besoin d’être reconnue.
Ce court-métrage met en valeur leur voix et rend hommage au courage de ces femmes.
Uprooted
September 2017, the Rohingya minority in Burma is victim of ethnical cleansing.
In a few months, 750,000 Rohingya cross the Burmese-Bangladeshi border. One million refugees are now living in the Kutupalong camps in southern Bangladesh.
Kutupalong is now the most populated refugee camp in the world.
In March 2008, I went to Kutupalong camp to collect the stories of women refugees. Many of them had been victims of sexual violence. Rape has been used systematically as a weapon of war.
Several of these women want to talk about it in front of my camera.
Their testimonies sound like cries; these women need us.
They need to be heard.
Their suffering needs to be recognized.
This short-film highlights their voices and pays tribute to the courage of these women
